Peter’s 2nd paper from his PhD has been accepted for publication in the journal Ecology. Peter led the paper and Wayne is a co-author. The study is entitled “Model selection in occupancy models: inference versus prediction,” and explores how care needs to be taken when using information criteria to identify explanatory variables to be included in the occupancy part of occupancy models. Specifically, Peter and coauthors caution against using information criteria if the goal of modelling is to make inferences about how the ecological system under study works to affect animal occupancy. Before the paper is published, you can view the manuscript on bioRxiv.
